One Word

Dec 14, 2017

The end of another year is upon us. Around this time, I begin to reflect on what I have done and left undone. Inevitably, I am tempted to make yet another New Years resolution. These resolutions are usually things such as losing weight, working out more, working harder, working less, spending more time with family, reading, you name it. I don’t know about you, but my resolutions rarely survive January. Yet, here I am once again just feeling another soon to be broken resolution coming on.

The other day my wife, Donna, mentioned an idea to me that she had heard about.  I think this idea has been around for quite some time, but it was new to me. The idea is to identify one word and focus on it as a way of improving your life. I really like the idea and decided to go for it. Since the word is meant to help make positive and lasting changes, it is very important to spend time thinking about what that one word should be. After giving it a lot of thought, I have decided my word for 2018 will be DISCIPLINE. My plan is to keep that word in front of me so I am constantly aware and challenged to be more disciplined in all aspects of my life.

Do you think one word might help you supercharge your life in 2018? I challenge you to join me in trying this exercise. Let’s make an intentional effort to improve an area of our lives and hold each other accountable. What will be your word? If you are up to the challenge, email me at info@medworkssurgical.com and share your word.

Let’s do this, Darrell Shires
